Managing the IT enterprise architecture in banks


 

 


This discussion will be about the effective management of  IT-architecture platforms of the banks, providing the proper level of platform flexibility for business objective optimization, readiness for mergers (e.g., financial institution merger), remote customer service via mobile devices, etc.

Mikhail recently joined  Sberbank-Technology from Deutsche Bank where worked as a Director of Global Information Services – Capital Markets. During his 10 years within Deutsche Bank Mikhail occupied different global positions in managing software development  and played a key role in building Software Development Center in Russia.

Prior to joining DB, Mikhail spent 5 years of his career at Diasoft+Programbank as deputy chief of development where he was involved into development banking software for operations and back office.

He has a extensive experience in banking software development and outsourcing as well as comprehensive experience in architecting and building fault tolerant, real time, high performance trading and back office platforms.

Mikhail holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and MBA  degree from Moscow Academy of National Economy.

Mr. Yapparov was born April 18, 1963 in Ufa, Bashkortostan, in the family of a university professor and a doctor. In 1980 Tagir enrolled at the Faculty of Physics in Moscow State University. Tagir graduated in 1986 and three years later completed his postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics of Moscow State University.

In November 1990 Tagir, together with his university friend Igor Kasimov, founded Information Technologies Company (I.T. Co.), and has headed the company ever since. Today, I.T. Co. is one of the largest Russian systems integrators, which has great experience in the implementation of IT projects of different scales and complexity. According to various expert surveys and ratings, Tagir Yapparov is one of the most professional managers of the Russian IT market. He is an author of more than 50 scientific articles appearing in Russia’s leading professional publications.

Mr. Yapparov focuses his efforts on overall management and strategic development of I.T. Group.

 

Andrey Tapekha

Andrey Tapekha is the head of Application Services Performance in Deutsche Bank, Russia Development Centre. Andrey has worked in the industry for 10 years, in or around financial systems development, including positions in programme and product management.

He has held various software delivery and management roles in a number of companies during his professional career. Before joining Deutsche Bank, Andrey spent several years developing software for the International Space Station jointly with engineers from NASA and European Space Agency in Dublin, Ireland.

Andrey holds MA in Information Technology at the Dublin City University.

 

Yuri Elkin

Yuri Elkin is Managing Director of Luxoft’s Financial Services practice. In this role, he is responsible for managing and growing company’s global financial services’ accounts, business planning and development of domain-specific technology expertise within the practice.

Yuri has more than twelve years of technology experience. Prior to Luxoft, he worked in IT department of one of the largest Russian telecom company. When Luxoft was established in 2000 he joined the Company together with a team of other professionals. Joining the company as a leading software developer, Yuri soon was managing one of the largest projects for the key customer, Boeing. Yuri was appointed head of Luxoft’s engagement with Deutsche bank, leading the account to significant growth and making foundation of Luxoft’s Financial Services practice.

Yuri holds a Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from Moscow State Institute of Electronics and Mathematics, where he graduated summa cum laude.

 

Eric Karpman

Independent consultant and a subject-matter expert in the financial technology space

Eric Karpman is a well-known subject matter expert in financial and trading technology and have worked or consulted for a number of global investment banks and asset managers in finding and implementing strategies to maximize return. Karpman has over 19 years of financial experience. During his tenure on Wall Street, he worked on the equity trading sell-side at Deutsche Bank, Renaissance Capital, Fuji Bank/Mizuho and Bloomberg, on the fixed income trading sell-side at JJKennyDrake trading unit of Standard & Poor’s, on various trading desks at Bear Stearns as well as for the buy-side at BNY Mellon Asset Management. Throughout his career, Eric and his teams have successfully implemented electronic trading systems with direct interfaces to the Street as well as the algorithmic, program and direct market access trading platforms for instant market analysis, decision-making capabilities and straight-through processing. In 2004, Eric was elected a Co-Chair of the FIX Protocol Technical Committee where he was involved with the future direction and the strategy of this messaging standard developed specifically for the real-time electronic exchange of securities transactions. In addition, Eric has written a number of books and articles describing multi-asset class trading systems he has built that cover equities, fixed income, derivatives and FX products for successful trading strategies’ implementation.  Eric is a graduate of the M.B.A. program in Finance at the New York University Stern School of Business. He is also a holder of NASD Series 7, 55 and 63 Licenses.

 

Andrey Burilov

Head of Business Solutions Engineering Group, Renaissance Capital

The last 6 years are connected with Renaissance Capital, where Andrey started as a system architect and is now the head of business solutions engineering department. His main efforts were directed to establishing of planning and quality control, which allowed to start the process of crystallization of the IT and to shift from in-house systems to implementation of the best solutions on the market.

5 years prior to that were devoted to work in the Moscow development center of Deutsche Bank, where Andrey participated in the creation and promotion of the trading system used by the company’s offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, trading tools on the NYSE, LSE and other European and Asian markets, and also used for providing DMA access.

Andrey graduated from Moscow State University.
