The main purpose of this report is to describe student projects, organized by Lanit-Tercom and department of software engineering, faculty of mathematics and mechanics of SPbSU. Student projects have been organized for more than 7 years and bring significant benefits to our company:
- The problem of finding and training young specialists is partly solved – many skillful students start working in our company and become key employees after some time.
- Employees gain valuable experience of team management and successfully use it in the commercial projects afterwards.
- On the basis of student projects internal products are being created and new direction are being developed (i.e. after learning some perspective technology).
We are going to describe the format of student projects, enlist challenges we met and useful practices discovered.

Shigapova Ksenia Askhatovna, a graduate of St. Petersburg State University, 2007. Graduated from two faculties — Faculty of Chemistry and Faculty of Specialists’ Retraining on the basis of Mathematical-Mechanical faculty. After graduation worked as a software developer in the company Lanit-Tercom, then became a Scrum Master. Since 2009 is a project manager in the same company.
In the academic year 2008/2009 supervised student projects, organized by Lanit-Tercom in cooperation with Software Engineering Department of St. Petersburg State University. Since 2009 coordinates all student projects and Summer School, regularly organized by the company.
